What does Altante do to make the charging experience better for drivers?
Our first focus is on reliability: every driver that arrives at an Atlante station should be able to charge. Secondly, we believe that charging must be easy and hassle-free.
Our service is fully “self-service” and recharging an EV entails many more complexities vis-à-vis filling a tank with a liquid. But those complexities are for Atlante and its partners to manage: our customers should simply plug in and charge with their preferred method of payment.
In this scheme, once again we need to work with partners like yourselves – who master the digital experience and who have a very strong understanding of the customers’ preferences and behaviour. We will continue to work hard on our part: for example, we’ve just relaunched our customer support service, setting the highest standards to date in our industry.
Can you tell us about some of the initiatives that Atlante are currently involved in like CO2 offsetting and reforestation?
Absolutely! First off, the energy we provide is 100% certified green, sourced from renewables. Every time you charge at one of our stations, you’re helping avoid an average of 21 kg of CO₂ emissions—that’s like not burning about 9 liters of gasoline!
But we know charging alone isn’t enough. We’re committed to Sustainable Development Goals and take a holistic approach to minimize our environmental impact. We track the impact of our infrastructure (we recently earned a 5-star rating from GRESB, a leading certification organization), work closely with suppliers to optimize our supply chain, and assess the life-cycle impact of our products to reduce or offset our carbon footprint. This includes monitoring and offsetting emissions from corporate events and travel starting in 2024.
Additionally, we give back to our local communities through tailored reforestation initiatives like our recently launched “ATLANTE – Plant to Change”, in partnership with Fondazione AlberItalia. These initiatives are part of our broader support to the Parco Italia project, aiming to regenerate forests in areas with severe hydrogeological issues. Just last week, with the help of our employees, we planted 600 trees in an area of Emilia Romagna heavily affected by flooding.
For next year I have asked my wonderful Sustainability team to raise the bar once again – watch this space!
